Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone
Let’s get uncomfortable.
What makes you completely want to crawl into fetal position and never see the light of day again?
Is it public speaking (number one fear of most everyone).
Is it talking to someone new?
What about training someone?
Explaining Reiki to the in-laws?
Admitting you were wrong?
The list could go on and on, but we’ll stop here.
Think about what makes you uncomfortable. It doesn’t have to be Reiki related. Now let’s talk about stepping out of your comfort zone. Get out from under the warm blanket of peaceful bliss to do something that scares you. Something that challenges you. Something that will empower you.
I’ll share a story.
I wanted to teach a crystal class at The Bead Angel (the bestest shop in Evansville btw). I had been doing a Women’s Circle and a discussion group there, but I wanted to do a class.
I thought about it for an entire year before I said anything. I was that scared. Not scared that they would say no, but that they would say yes and I would be in over my head.
I asked. They said yes.
I was excited.
I was terrified.
I had never taught a class in person before.
My stomach started doing crazy things days before the class.
But I knew I had it under control. I knew my stuff and gathered it all together for the first class.
9 people came to the first class and I was ecstatic.
I stammered a little bit, but not as much as I could have. It helped that I had many friends in the class.
The first class was a big success. And each class after has been wonderful as well.
Each class I have more and more confidence and speaking comes easier.
Reiki prepared me for this journey into classes, and I’m super glad I took the step and asked…because we all know the answer if we don’t ask, it’s a big hairy NO. I’m also very grateful for The Bead Angel for their continued openness to my ideas.
When we step out of our comfort zones we grow and learn.
We find new skills we didn’t know we had. We grow skills we did know we had, only in a different way.
We find a new tipping point.
We find a new confidence.
We find a new adventure.
You do not have to do anything super scary.
Try a new menu item from your favorite restaurant. Or try a new restaurant!
Try a new sport. Or boardgame.
Talk to 10 new people every day.
Learn how to play an instrument in your 50s.
Take a class in hula dancing.
Read a book different than what you normally would.
Teach a class.
Start a Reiki business.
How can Reiki help you step out of your comfort zones?
- Do Reiki before doing the challenge. Reiki during. Reiki after. Reiki the future as soon as you discover that you’ll be doing it.
- Ask Reiki to guide you and be your support in this endeavor. Then get out of its way.
- Ask Reiki to help you discover the edge of your comfort zone, then go beyond that. You never know, you might like it.
- Reiki your discomfort.
- Send Reiki to anyone that will be participating with you in your adventure of getting out of the comfort zone.
