Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen: The Connection
I’ve been enjoying myself writing about Cho Ku Rei and Sei Hei Ki the last two weeks. This week we are talking about Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. Honestly, this Reiki symbol frustrates me. Okay, not the symbol itself, but how it’s taught in western Reiki as the distance symbol.
I get that Reiki 1 is all about our personal healing, and it really should be. And I get waiting til Reiki 2 to teach how to distant Reiki. It would be super overwhelming to teach it in Reiki 1! But telling people (falsely I might add) that they can’t remote Reiki until they reach Reiki 2 and a symbol just doesn’t make sense. That’s like telling kids in Sunday school that they can’t pray until they’ve reached priesthood, and not everyone goes on to be a priest! It’s pretty much telling Reiki students that “oh yes, you are universal life force energy, everything is energy, butttttt you can’t send it to someone until you reach the next level, even though if you tried it you’d discover that you, in fact, can do it now and you’ve always had the ability!” ::endrant…maybe::
So what is Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen really about? Connection to all and becoming one with yourself.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen: The Connection
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (HSZSN) pronounced: hawn shaw zay/zee show nen)
This is the symbol that reminds us that there is no distance, all time is now, that we become one with time and space. I can hear some grumbling in the crowd: but Sierra, then it is a distance symbol right?
Don’t disempower yourself please. HSZSN is a reminder that we can do anything we set our mind to. That we are Reiki. That we are healed, whole, and healthy. We are where we need to be in these moments. That all is one and one is all (Any Fullmetal Alchemist fans in the crowd? haha). There is no separation. No limits. So just freaking do it already. And that goes for anything and everything.
It is not the special key to do distant Reiki. You already have that, your intentions and beliefs. Put them together and what do you have? (bippity boppidy boo…) remote Reiki! It is a key to knowing yourself, though. But not the key, just a helpful key.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen makes it easier for us to walk our path. Use it as another personal transformation symbol instead of a distant symbol. Utilize Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen to remind yourself that you have what it takes to reach your goals and desires. Choose HSZSN instead of Cho Ku Rei to empower your affirmations and goals and see what happens.
Connect with your inner self, inner critic, inner lover, inner child, and get to know you, that’s what we’re going to play with this week. Connecting with ourselves, past, present, and future.
Ways to Work with Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen
One of the best ways to work with HSZSN is to meditate with it. This helps you connect with yourself, Reiki, and the energy of the symbol. These are just some suggestions to get started:
- Start with an intention of what you want to accomplish during your meditation. Do you want to connect with a past life? Talk with your higher self? Just want to have a peaceful meditation session? Access the Akashic Records?
- Meditate by drawing the symbol over and over and over. Deliberately, mindfully, slowly. Get lost in each stroke.
- Visualize the symbol becoming a bridge that you walk over to reach where you wish to go. Use this for goals/wishes/desires…
Other than for distant Reiki how do you use Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen?
