Your First Reiki Experience: First Night After Being Attuned to Reiki

The First Night After Being Attuned To Reiki

PREVIOUS BLOG | MASTER LIST | NEXT BLOG

Hello folks new and old ::waves:: this post is part of a Reiki Blog Hop and I’m pretty excited to be a part of it! The lovely Joy Vernon of Completely Joyous is the one that wrangled it all together. Thank you Joy! The theme of the hop is Your First Reiki Experience. I wrote about what brought me to Reiki here (thank you Magic Mike), it includes my first Reiki share and other firsts…the first time I saw proof of Reiki, the first time I experienced Reiki, the first time I realized I wanted Reiki. So I decided to go a different route. I want to share the first night after being attuned to Reiki.

Reiki Blog Hop: My First Reiki Experience

I revealed in My Story of Reiki Struggles that during attunement I didn’t really feel anything. No colors, no angels singing, no fireworks, nothing, only inner monologue wondering if I was being attuned to anything at all.

To be honest I was disappointed. I had read about people having massive life changing experiences. Heck, some of my fellow classmates saw colors or heard their guides talking! In the brief time before the attunements we learned about Reiki, the history, the Principles, hand positions, and some key things to remember such as: let go of expectations. Which I forgot immediately upon sitting in the chair to be attuned. Luckily, when we got on the tables to practice I could tell a difference, something was goin’ on and I was completely wired for the rest of the day. I sang to pineapples at the store. I had a ton of energy that I thought going to bed was going to be impossible. I was wrong.

This was a two-day class so I went to bed early around 10pm. I gave thanks for Reiki and intended that Reiki flow. Then I placed my hands over my eyes. “Mmmmm this feels nice, I think it’s my favorite position”. I stayed there for a while, loving the way it made me feel. Slowly I moved down the hand positions and placed my hands on my stomach. “Nope, this is my favorite”. My mind was calm, I wasn’t worried about anything. I laid there enjoying Reiki. Before I knew it, it was the next day. I was totally refreshed and it was the best sleep I had in months.

During sleep I had many wonderful adventure dreams. I was a healer, then I was a dragon, then I was a mermaid, then I was floating among the stars. I’ve always had vivid dreams, but Reiki just pushed them even farther. After day 2 it was again easy to fall asleep with Reiki and it continues to be easy even now 3 years later.

Reiki has changed my life so much. It keeps my anger in check, keeps me calm, my anxiety is at an all-time low, helps me sleep, and tons of other benefits. Now the attunement process is probably my favorite part of it all. You don’t have to feel anything, just trust that you are getting attuned. Trust the process and work with the energies. You can be a skeptic like I was, just notice anything different. Notice your energy levels, notice how you sleep, pain levels, temper, etc.

Now that you read my post you get to “hop” to another post written by someone else about their first Reiki experience. You can hop by clicking any of the three buttons below! Also, if you enjoyed this and would like to share about your first night being attuned to Reiki I’d love to hear your stories in the comments! I totally relate, I had a similar experience when I did my Angelic Reiki 1&2 for the first time, it wasn’t until I went back a year later that I suddenly realised just how much sense it all made.

Thinking back now, I’m really glad I didn’t get a show during the attunement. I don’t know if it would have made a difference and or turned me off completely! Thanks for stopping by Jay!

Sierra, you touch on the essence of the experience of Reiki. It takes us to a state of peace and calm, no worries, no pull to anger, good sleep … just beautiful things that millions of us long for. Light displays and inner fireworks are optional, because after they are over we still desire that inner peace and calm anyway!!! Thanks for sharing!

Hi Sierra! First things first, I read your Magic Mike post and yes, I love Matt Bomer!!! I watch all the seasons of White Collar on Netflix, then watched them all again! I haven’t seen the movie, although I’ve heard of it. Sounds like I should check it out!! Yes, letting go of expectations with attunements and Reiki in general is really key. 🙂 I loved hearing about your dreams!

Thanks Joy! I need to update the Magic Mike post because I’ve seen the second one now. They actually did a good job with portraying Reiki, I was impressed.

I thought the same thing about being attuned. I thought it was going to be this earthquake, thunderstorm experience. It was subtle and with reading this entry I just realized how much I have improved in spiritual growth since my in-person attunement. Blessed Be.

Thanks for visiting Aaron! I really am glad it wasn’t all fireworks and colors. It was earth shattering later though because it has changed my world!
